9" Moke: Amaebi

The Amaebi color was born from an "aha" moment. I had a couple of painted heads laying around for a while — clear over Creamsicle skirts. One day the guys from the commercial boat FV Musubi came by to talk story and grab a few lures. We got talking about a color that looked like Amaebi shrimp, and I asked why they ran that top skirt at all — why not just run Creamsicle as the outer skirt? My friend said, "Nah, the outer skirt turns a little blue in the water."

That's when it clicked.

My friend Josh traps Amaebi, and one evening we were eating fresh raw shrimp down at the docks. As I sucked the good stuff out of the head, the juices dripping into the water lit up bioluminescent blue. I pulled that exact skirt combo off the rack, handed it to the Musubi guys with the head, and the rest is history.
